Landgraf vs Graf

count

'der Graf' (the count) and 'der Landgraf' (the landgrave) are both noble titles and sound very similar. A count is a general title in the nobility. A landgrave was a special historical title in the Holy Roman Empire and had a higher rank, roughly like a duke. 'Landgraf' is therefore much more specific and is mainly used in historical contexts. The risk of confusion comes from the fact that 'Landgraf' contains the word 'Graf', but does not simply mean an ordinary count.
