'Der Launch' is used mainly when a new product, service, or brand is released in a planned way. The word sounds especially natural in technology, marketing, and business. Learners may confuse the words because something starts during a launch. But not every 'Start' is a 'Launch': for private or everyday beginnings, 'Start' is usually better.
