Linguistik vs Grammatik
grammar
'die Grammatik' and 'die Linguistik' both belong to the topic of language. 'Grammatik' means the rules of a specific language, for example sentence structure, tenses, or endings. 'Linguistik' is much broader: it is the science of language in general and also studies topics such as language development, meaning, or language use. The words can be confusing because grammar is one part of what linguistics can deal with. In a language course, people usually say 'Grammatik'. At university or in research, 'Linguistik' is more appropriate.
Linguistik
An der Universität interessiert sich Sofia besonders für Linguistik.
At university, Sofia is especially interested in linguistics.

Für den Test wiederhole ich heute die Grammatik der Vergangenheit.
