'die Auflage' can be a specific edition of a publication or indicate the number of printed copies. 'der Nachdruck' is a new printed edition of a work that has already been published, usually without any change in content. The words can be confused because a reprint can also be a kind of new edition. If the text has been revised or is being counted as a version, 'Auflage' often fits better. If the emphasis is on an existing text being printed again, 'Nachdruck' is more precise.
