'der Faschist' and 'der Nationalist' can both express a strong emphasis on one's own nation. 'der Nationalist' places their own nation and its interests above others. This can be very exaggerated and can devalue other nations. 'der Faschist' goes further: the word describes a far-right, anti-democratic, and authoritarian ideology, or it is used derogatorily for very undemocratic behavior. The words can be confused because fascists are often nationalist. But not every nationalist is automatically a fascist. If it is only about excessive national pride, 'Nationalist' fits; if anti-democracy and authoritarian politics are central, 'Faschist' fits.
