neurologisch vs nervös

nervous

'nervös' and 'neurologisch' can both have to do with nerves in a medical context. There, 'nervös' generally means that something relates to the nerves or the nervous system. In everyday language, however, 'nervös' much more often means inwardly restless or anxious. 'neurologisch' is more precise and belongs to medicine: it refers to neurology, meaning the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and their diseases. The words can be confused because both are connected to 'Nerven' (nerves). For feelings before an exam, you say 'nervös'; for examinations or diseases of the nervous system, 'neurologisch' is more likely.
