'Ökostrom' and 'Solarstrom' both have to do with environmentally friendly energy. However, 'Ökostrom' is the broader term: it can come from the sun, wind, water, or biomass. 'Solarstrom' is only electricity from sunlight, usually produced by solar systems. Learners may confuse the words because solar power is often also green electricity. But not all green electricity is solar power. If the exact source does not matter, or if several renewable sources are meant, you say 'Ökostrom'. If it is really about electricity from the sun, 'Solarstrom' is more precise.
