The amount, number, or extent of something. The term describes a measurable size and is often used in contrast to quality.

To describe what there is a quantity of, you use the preposition 'an' followed by the dative. The preposition 'von' is also possible.

Menge and Quantität can both indicate how much of a substance is present. Menge is the normal choice in everyday language. Quantität sounds more abstract or technical and is especially appropriate when a measurable quantity is being examined objectively or contrasted with Qualität.
