Rangliste vs Tabelle
table
'die Tabelle' and 'die Rangliste' can be very similar in meaning when the topic is places in sports, competitions, or comparisons. Both show who is ahead or behind. 'Rangliste' says very directly that it is about an order based on performance or a criterion. 'Tabelle' is especially common in sports, but it can also be a general overview in rows and columns. The words can be confused because a sports table is often a ranking. Outside rankings, however, 'Tabelle' is broader and is not always a 'Rangliste'.
