National Socialism / Nazism
'Nationalsozialismus' and 'Rechtsextremismus' both have to do with far-right political ideas, especially nationalism, racism, and the rejection of democratic values. The important difference is: 'Nationalsozialismus' refers to the specific ideology and dictatorship of the NSDAP in Germany from 1933 to 1945. 'Rechtsextremismus' is broader and refers to far-right extremist attitudes or groups in general, including today. Learners may confuse the words because National Socialism was a form of right-wing extremism. But when you are talking specifically about the time of Hitler and the NSDAP, 'Nationalsozialismus' is more precise.
