neo-Nazi
'der Neonazi' and 'der Rechtsextremist' both describe people with an extreme right-wing political attitude. The difference is in the level of precision. A 'Neonazi' refers especially to the ideology of National Socialism after the Second World War. A 'Rechtsextremist' is more general: he may be strongly nationalist, xenophobic, or anti-democratic, but does not necessarily refer directly to National Socialism. Learners may confuse the words because many neo-Nazis are also right-wing extremists. But not every right-wing extremist is automatically a neo-Nazi. If the connection to National Socialism is important, 'Neonazi' is more precise.
