A Reformer wants to change an existing system through fundamental improvements, while essentially remaining within that system. Revolutionär, by contrast, describes someone or something aimed at a political revolution and therefore at a radical upheaval. Use „Reformer“ for change through reforms and „revolutionär“ for the political overthrow of the existing order.
