Remake vs Fortsetzung
sequel / continuation
'die Fortsetzung' and 'das Remake' can both have to do with films, series, books, or games. The difference is important: a 'Fortsetzung' (sequel) continues the plot and comes after an earlier part. A 'Remake' does not continue the story, but makes a new version of something that already exists. Learners may confuse the words because both occur with new films or games. Memory tip: a 'Fortsetzung' continues, a 'Remake' makes something new.
