'die Bahn' and 'die Rennbahn' can both mean a marked-off track for sports or competition. 'Bahn' is more general and can be a single lane, for example in running, swimming, or bowling. 'Rennbahn' is more specific: races take place there, often with horses, cars, motorcycles, or dogs. The words can be confused because a 'Rennbahn' is also a kind of 'Bahn'. But 'Rennbahn' is only used when the purpose really is a race. For normal sports lanes or tracks, 'Bahn' is the more suitable word.
