Send fair
The name of the largest folk festival (funfair) in the Münsterland region, held three times a year in the city of Münster.

'Der Send' is not a general word for a folk festival, but the proper name for the largest funfair in Münster, Westphalia. Outside this region, the word is usually not understood.

For festivals and markets like the Send, the preposition 'auf' is used. Movement toward it is expressed with the accusative ('auf den Send gehen' — to go to the Send), while being there is expressed with the dative ('auf dem Send sein' — to be at the Send).

The Send takes place three times a year: as the Frühjahrssend (spring Send), Sommersend (summer Send), and Herbstsend (autumn Send). It is a traditional folk festival with rides, snack stands, and games.
