Usage tips
Word family and origin
'Suspendierung' (suspension) comes from the verb 'suspendieren' (to suspend) and has Latin roots ('suspendere' = to hang up, interrupt). The basic idea of a temporary interruption or a suspended state appears in all meanings.

Context clues
The context makes the meaning clear. If it is about people ('Mitarbeiter' = employee, 'Schüler' = student), it means removal from duty or school. With terms like 'Teilchen' (particles) or 'Flüssigkeit' (liquid), it is about chemistry. With 'Aktien' (shares) or 'Börse' (stock exchange), the financial context is meant.
EXAMPLE
Die Suspendierung des Schülers vom Unterricht wurde nach zwei Tagen aufgehoben.
The student's suspension from class was lifted after two days.
Register: formal technical language
The word 'Suspendierung' (suspension) is used in all meanings mainly in formal written language or in the respective technical languages (law, chemistry, finance). It is not a typical everyday word.

Suspendierung vs Lösung
solution
'die Lösung' and 'die Suspendierung' can both have to do with substances in a liquid in chemistry and physics. The important difference is: in a solution, a substance is dissolved in the solvent. The liquid appears uniform. In a suspension, solid particles float in the liquid without really dissolving. These words can be confusing because both can look like a liquid with a substance in it. In practical terms: if the substance is dissolved, you say 'Lösung'; if small solid particles are only dispersed, you say 'Suspendierung'.
Suspendierung
Die Suspendierung muss vor dem Versuch gut geschüttelt werden.
The suspension must be shaken well before the experiment.
Lösung
Im Unterricht stellen wir eine Lösung aus Salz und Wasser her.
