'Tageskarte' is more specific. In transportation, it is a ticket that is valid for a whole day. In a restaurant, it is a menu with dishes that are offered only on that day. The words can be confused because they occur in the same situations. If the validity or the offer being limited to one day is important, you say 'Tageskarte'. Otherwise, 'Karte' is usually enough.
