Taifun vs Hurrikan

hurricane

A Hurrikan and a Taifun are both very strong tropical cyclones, but the regional term is different. Hurrikan is used mainly for storms in the Atlantic, the Caribbean, and the northeastern Pacific; in the northwestern Pacific, the term Taifun is used. What matters, then, is the ocean where the storm forms.
