table tennis
'das Tennis' and 'das Tischtennis' are both sports with rackets, a ball, and a net. That is why they can easily be confused. The most important difference is the place and the type of ball: tennis is played on a tennis court with larger rackets and a regular tennis ball. Table tennis is played on a table with small paddles and a light ball. If someone talks about a sports court, clay court, or grass, 'Tennis' usually fits. If it is about a table, small paddles, or ping-pong, 'Tischtennis' fits.
