'Torte' (awesome) as an adjective is an outdated expression from youth slang that was especially popular in the 1980s. Today, young people hardly use it anymore, and it sounds more ironic or nostalgic.
Mein Vater sagt manchmal noch, dass er etwas „echt torte“ findet.
My father still sometimes says that he finds something 'echt torte' (really awesome).
This adjective is used only predicatively (after the noun with a verb like 'sein' (to be)) or as a standalone exclamation. You cannot put it before a noun.

This word is easy to confuse with the noun 'die Torte' (a cake/torte). The grammatical function in the sentence makes the difference clear: when it is used as an adjective, it means 'großartig' (great/awesome).
Der Film war torte, aber danach haben wir noch eine Torte gegessen.
The film was awesome, but afterward we also ate a cake.
super
'super' and 'torte' can both express enthusiasm and mean that something is great or very good. 'super' is completely normal today and understandable in almost any casual everyday situation. 'torte', on the other hand, is a very colloquial expression from older youth slang and sounds unusual or deliberately old-fashioned today. If you want to speak naturally, 'super' is almost always more suitable. You may understand 'torte' if it appears in old texts, films, or ironically in conversations.
