Regional use
The word 'Tram' (tram) is a very common term for the streetcar especially in southern Germany (e.g. in Munich) and in Austria.
EXAMPLE
In Wien nennt man die Straßenbahn fast ausschließlich Tram.
In Vienna, people almost exclusively call the streetcar the tram.
