Describing a bad, unpleasant, or worrying feeling. Used almost exclusively in the expression 'ein ungutes Gefühl' (an uneasy feeling).
Ich hatte ein ungutes Gefühl, als ich nachts allein durch den Park ging.

Careful: 'Ungut' is not a general opposite of 'gut' (good). You cannot say 'das Essen war ungut' (the food was ungood). The word is used almost only in the fixed expressions 'ein ungutes Gefühl' (an uneasy feeling) and 'nichts für ungut' (no offense).

In Austria, 'ungut' has a broader meaning and can also be used for people or situations that are perceived as unpleasant or annoying. This usage is uncommon in Germany.

'Nichts für ungut' (no offense) is a fixed idiom used when you want to apologize for a possibly critical or hurtful statement. It is often placed at the beginning or end of a sentence.

Important: 'ungut' is not the normal opposite of 'gut' in all situations. For example, people usually say 'ein ungutes Gefühl' (an uneasy feeling), but not simply 'ein ungutes Essen' for bad food. The words can be confused because 'un-' looks like a normal opposite. In practice: for general quality, use 'schlecht'; for a worrying feeling, 'ungut' fits.
