Verklärung vs Nostalgie

nostalgia

'die Nostalgie' and 'die Verklärung' can both have to do with seeing the past in a positive light. 'Nostalgie' is above all a feeling: you long for the past and enjoy remembering it. 'Verklärung' describes more that someone presents or sees something as too beautiful, better than it really was. Learners may confuse the words because nostalgia sometimes leads to idealization. If you mean the feeling, use 'Nostalgie'. If you want to say that someone is glossing over the past, 'Verklärung' is more precise.
