'die Hochzeit' and 'die Vermählung' both refer to an event in which two people get married. 'Hochzeit' is the normal everyday word and often means the celebration with all the guests. 'Vermählung' sounds solemn, elevated, or old-fashioned. You are more likely to find it in historical texts, in fairy tales, or in very official reports, for example about nobles. For normal conversations, 'Hochzeit' is more natural, while 'Vermählung' has a special or very formal tone.
