„Vorknöpfen“ (to take to task / tackle) is a separable verb. In a main clause, „vor“ comes at the end of the sentence; with „zu“, the prefix is attached to the verb again: „vorzuknöpfen“.

With „sich jemanden oder etwas vorknöpfen“ (to take someone or something to task / tackle someone or something), the person or thing affected is in the accusative. The reflexive pronoun is usually in the dative: „mir“, „dir“, „sich“, or the form corresponding to the person.
