A preconceived, usually negative opinion about a person or group that is not based on personal experience or factual information.

Klischee here refers to the strongly simplified and often outdated portrayal that may underlie such an opinion, but does not necessarily involve a personal judgment. Vorurteil fits an unfounded judgment; Klischee fits a stereotyped image.
