Separable verb
'Weiterlesen' (to read on) is a separable verb. The prefix 'weiter' goes at the end in a main clause. In subordinate clauses and in the infinitive with 'zu', the verb stays together.
EXAMPLE
Ich lese den spannenden Krimi heute Abend weiter.
I will read on in the exciting crime novel this evening.
The prefix 'weiter-'
The prefix 'weiter-' means 'to continue' or 'to carry on'. It can be combined with many verbs to express that an action is being continued, e.g. 'weiterarbeiten' (to keep working) or 'weiterschlafen' (to keep sleeping).
EXAMPLE
Nach einer kurzen Pause habe ich einfach weitergelesen.
After a short break, I simply read on.
Imperative on the internet
On the internet and in digital texts, 'weiterlesen' (to read on) is often used in the imperative as a link or button to lead the reader to the full article.
