wiedergeben vs erzählen
to tell
'erzählen' and 'wiedergeben' can both mean that you report something to others. 'erzählen' sounds more natural in everyday life, especially with personal experiences, stories, or conversations. 'wiedergeben' is used more when you report the content of something you have heard, read, or experienced as accurately as possible. It fits well in school, university, work, or in summaries. In short: you 'erzählen' freely and personally, but you 'gibst einen Inhalt wieder' (recount content).
