Inseparable verb
'Zertrampeln' (to trample) has the inseparable prefix 'zer-' and is not split in a main clause. The verb also remains together with 'zu' (to); 'zu' comes before the entire verb.

Accusative object
'Zertrampeln' (to trample) is normally used with an accusative object: a person or thing is trampled. The object therefore appears without a preposition directly after the verb or in another position in the sentence.
