'Nationalismus' and 'Zionismus' both have to do with nation, identity, and politics. That is why they can be confused. However, 'Nationalismus' is a general term: it describes an attitude or ideology in which one's own nation is very important and is often placed above others. 'Zionismus' is much more specific: it refers to a Jewish national movement with the goal of creating and supporting a Jewish state in the historic Land of Israel. When speaking generally about exaggerated pride in a nation, 'Nationalismus' fits. When referring to this specific Jewish movement, 'Zionismus' is more precise.
