'Zusammenhalt' (cohesion / solidarity) is the nominalization of the separable verb 'zusammenhalten' (to stick together). It describes the result of this action: the feeling that a group 'zusammenhält' (sticks together).
In einer Krise müssen wir alle fest zusammenhalten.
In a crisis, we all have to stick together firmly.
This noun is often used with verbs such as 'stärken' (to strengthen), 'fördern' (to promote), or 'zeigen' (to show). Typical adjectives are 'stark' (strong), 'groß' (great), or 'enorm' (enormous).

To name the group in which the cohesion exists, German usually uses the preposition 'in' (+ dative) for institutions or 'unter' (+ dative) for people.

Because 'Zusammenhalt' (cohesion / solidarity) describes an abstract concept or feeling, it is almost exclusively used in the singular. A plural form is unusual.

'das Band' and 'der Zusammenhalt' both have to do with connection between people. 'das Band' tends to describe the close emotional connection between individuals or a small group. 'der Zusammenhalt' more strongly means the feeling within a group that people stick together and help one another. For family or friendship, both can fit, but the focus is different: 'Band' emphasizes the relationship, while 'Zusammenhalt' emphasizes mutual support.
Nach dem Umzug war der Zusammenhalt in der Nachbarschaft besonders stark.
