Separable verb
'Anmalen' (to paint) consists of the prefix 'an-' and the verb 'malen' (to paint) and is separable. In a main clause, 'an' comes at the end of the sentence; in a subordinate clause, 'anmalen' stays together. With 'zu', the prefix comes before 'zu' and the verb.
