In its medical meaning, 'Ausfluss' (discharge) is often preceded by adjectives such as 'ungewöhnlich' (unusual), 'stark' (heavy), or 'vermehrt' (increased). The phrase 'Ausfluss aus der Scheide' (vaginal discharge) is also common.

She had noticed unusually heavy discharge for several days.
In the meaning of a liquid flowing away, 'Ausfluss' (outflow) is often associated with liquids and technical systems. Typical structures are 'der Ausfluss des Wassers' (the outflow of the water) and 'der Ausfluss aus einem Rohr' (the outflow from a pipe).
Der Ausfluss aus dem Rohr muss regelmäßig kontrolliert werden.
