Participle as adjective
'Beendet' (ended/completed) is the past participle of the verb 'beenden' (to end/finish). It is used like an adjective and describes a state: an action or process is completed and no longer active.

From noun to verb
The word is derived from the noun 'das Ende' (the end). The prefix 'be-' forms the transitive verb 'beenden' (to end/finish), which always needs an accusative object: you always end/finish *something*.

Fixed expression
A common and rather formal phrase is 'etwas für beendet erklären' (to declare something ended/over). This means that a person with authority officially announces the end of something.
