'das Netzwerk' and 'der Bekanntenkreis' can both refer to people you know. However, a 'Bekanntenkreis' is more private and simply describes the people you are acquainted with. These people are not necessarily close friends and do not have to work together either. A 'Netzwerk' sounds more goal-oriented and often more professional: the people or groups are connected and can exchange information, help, or contacts. Learners may confuse the words because both have to do with contacts. If you are simply saying who you know, 'Bekanntenkreis' fits. If it is about useful connections and exchange, 'Netzwerk' is more natural.
