The state in which a person is not conscious and does not respond to external stimuli such as being spoken to or touched.

'das Bewusstsein' and 'die Bewusstlosigkeit' are clear opposites. Here, 'Bewusstsein' means that a person is awake, perceives their surroundings, and can react. 'Bewusstlosigkeit' means that a person is not conscious and does not respond to being spoken to or touched. This difference is especially important in medical or emergency situations. For example, you say that someone comes back to consciousness when the unconsciousness ends.
