'sich beteiligen' and 'einbeziehen' both have to do with participation or involvement. The most important difference is the direction: with 'sich beteiligen', a person actively takes part themselves. With 'einbeziehen', someone makes sure that a person or thing is considered or brought in to contribute. Learners confuse the words because both fit shared projects. Remember: you 'beteiligt sich' in something yourself, but you 'bezieht' others 'in etwas ein'.
