To convince oneself that something is true even though there is no real evidence for it; to imagine something.

To speak to someone continuously and insistently, often in order to persuade or influence them.

'Einreden' (to talk into / convince) is a separable verb. In a main clause, the prefix 'ein' comes at the end of the sentence. In a subordinate clause and in the infinitive, the verb stays together.

to convince
Both words describe someone adopting an opinion. Überzeugen is neutral and relies on understandable reasons, while einreden suggests repeated persuasion and often an implausible or false idea. If the assumption is supported by good arguments, „überzeugen“ is usually the better choice; when pressure is involved, use „einreden“.
