'Überzeugen' (to convince) is an inseparable verb because it has the prefix 'über-'. The prefix stays firmly attached to the verb in all sentence forms and tenses and is never placed at the end of the sentence.

He convinced the jury with his presentation.
When you convince someone of something, the fixed structure is: 'jemanden (Akkusativ) von etwas (Dativ) überzeugen' (to convince someone of something). The preposition 'von' is crucial here.

I want to convince you of the quality of this product.
Instead of using 'von + Dativ', you can also express what you convince someone of with a subordinate clause. You then use the structure 'jemanden überzeugen, dass ...' (to convince someone that ...) or an infinitive construction, 'jemanden überzeugen, etwas zu tun' (to convince someone to do something).

to impress
Here, „überzeugen“ means getting someone to consider a statement correct or agree to a proposal. „Beeindrucken“, on the other hand, describes creating a strong positive impression, such as admiration or respect. A presentation can therefore impress its audience without convincing them of its content.
