mood / atmosphere
When instruments are tuned together, Stimmung and Einstimmung refer to the same musical area but from different perspectives. Einstimmung is the process of tuning the instruments, while Stimmung is the correct pitch relationship achieved afterward. When talking about the process, Einstimmung is appropriate; for the result, Stimmung is appropriate.
