Done in a great hurry and often rushed or without much thought. It implies a speed that comes at the expense of care or thoroughness.

'Hastig' (hasty/hastily) is often combined with actions that take place under time pressure. Typical examples are: 'hastig essen' (to eat hastily), 'hastig packen' (to pack hastily), 'eine hastige Bewegung' (a hasty movement), or 'ein hastiger Abschied' (a hasty goodbye).

fast / quick
'schnell' and 'hastig' both describe something happening in a short time or at a high speed. The important difference is the evaluation. 'schnell' is usually neutral or positive: something happens quickly, without necessarily being done badly. 'hastig' sounds more negative, because someone is in too much of a hurry and may act imprecisely or restlessly. Learners may confuse the words because both have to do with speed. If you only mean the speed, 'schnell' fits better. If you want to say that someone is acting in a rushed way, 'hastig' is more precise.
