To physically bring someone or something closer to a specific place or object.

'Heranführen' is a separable verb. The prefix 'heran-' separates from the verb 'führen' in a main clause and goes to the end of the sentence. In subordinate clauses or in the infinitive with 'zu', the verb stays together.

Both verbs can mean bringing someone to a new topic or activity. Hinführen mainly emphasizes the direction or goal, while heranführen highlights a gradual and careful introduction. Heranführen is therefore the better fit for a slow introduction, while hinführen is more suitable for direct guidance.
