Hochglanz vs Glanz

shine / splendor

Glanz describes the visible effect of light on a smooth surface. Hochglanz, by contrast, refers to an especially smooth, highly reflective surface itself and is therefore more specific. Glanz is enough for a shiny effect; Hochglanz is more suitable when the surface is explicitly mirror-like.
