'die Saison' and 'die Jahreszeit' both have to do with times of the year. 'Jahreszeit' means one of the four fixed parts of the year: spring, summer, autumn/fall, or winter. 'Saison' means a period when something specific happens or is especially typical, for example 'Skisaison' (ski season), 'Urlaubssaison' (holiday season), or 'Erdbeersaison' (strawberry season). A 'Saison' can coincide with a 'Jahreszeit', but it does not have to be exactly the same. Learners confuse the words because both are often connected to weather, travel, or harvesting. For the four natural parts of the year, use 'Jahreszeit'; for activities or products, use 'Saison'.
