A small wheeled carriage used to push a baby or small child while they are lying down or sitting.

This word is a clear example of a compound noun: it consists of 'Kinder' (children, plural of 'Kind') and 'Wagen' (carriage/cart). So it is literally a carriage for children.

In connection with a stroller, the verb 'schieben' (to push) is almost always used. When you put a child into it lying down or sitting, you use the verbs 'legen' (to lay) or 'setzen' (to sit/place).
Die Mutter schiebt den Kinderwagen durch den Park.
The mother pushes the stroller through the park.
To express movement, use 'in den Kinderwagen' with the accusative. To describe a location, use 'im Kinderwagen' with the dative.
Das Kind will nicht in den Kinderwagen gesetzt werden.
The child does not want to be put into the stroller.
buggy
Kinderwagen and Buggy can both refer to a stroller for pushing a small child. Kinderwagen is the more general term and also works for a stroller with a lie-flat function. Buggy usually means a lighter, foldable stroller for a child who can already sit up independently.
Das Baby schläft im Kinderwagen, während seine Mutter durch den Park geht.
The baby is sleeping in the stroller while its mother walks through the park.
Das bereits sitzende Kleinkind fährt im leichten Buggy durch den Park.
The toddler, who can already sit up, is riding through the park in the lightweight stroller.
