'die Besserung' and 'die Linderung' can both mean that a negative condition is no longer as bad. 'Besserung' means that the overall condition improves, especially in the case of illness. 'Linderung' mainly means that pain, worries, or suffering become less intense. The cause may still be there. Learners can confuse the words because both describe an improvement. If it is about the whole condition, 'Besserung' fits; if it is about less pain or less strain, 'Linderung' fits better.
Die Salbe bringt Herr Yilmaz eine leichte Linderung der Schmerzen.
