liturgisch vs religiös

religious

'religiös' and 'liturgisch' both have to do with religion. But 'religiös' is much more general: it can describe a person of faith, a religious topic, or a religious institution. 'liturgisch' is more precise when it is about the fixed form of a religious service, that is, prayers, rituals, and the order of the celebration. Learners may confuse the words because liturgical things are always religious. But not everything religious is liturgical. A religious discussion, for example, is not automatically liturgical.

liturgisch

religiös
