An inflammation of the lung tissue, usually caused by an infection with bacteria, viruses, or fungi. Symptoms often include coughing, fever, and difficulty breathing.

bronchitis
Lungenentzündung and Bronchitis can cause similar symptoms, such as coughing and breathing problems. With Lungenentzündung, the lung tissue is inflamed, whereas with Bronchitis, it is the mucous membrane of the bronchi. The symptoms alone therefore do not make the terms synonymous.
