Always plural
The word 'mehrere' (several) is used exclusively with plural nouns. There is no singular form.
EXAMPLE
Mehrere Kinder spielen auf dem Spielplatz.
Several children are playing on the playground.
Declension
'Mehrere' (several) is declined like an adjective in the plural. The ending adapts to the case of the noun it accompanies.
EXAMPLE
Mehrere Zeugen haben den Vorfall beobachtet. (Nominativ)
Several witnesses observed the incident. (Nominative)
Use as a pronoun
'Mehrere' (several) can also stand alone and replace a noun when it is clear from the context what it refers to. In this case, it is capitalized if it appears at the beginning of a sentence.
