Common phrases are 'als Model arbeiten' (to work as a model) or 'als Model gebucht werden' (to be booked as a model). The related verb is 'modeln' (to model).

'das Modell' and 'das Model' look almost the same and can both refer to a person who presents clothing or products. In this sense, they are very close in meaning. However, 'das Model' is the usual modern form for this person in fashion, advertising, and photos. 'das Modell' has many other meanings, for example a product version, a reproduction, or a theoretical representation. This can easily cause confusion. When talking about a person on the runway or at a photo shoot, 'Model' is usually more natural and clearer.
